5000 Poppies

This post is a little late for Anzac Day, but I first came upon the 5000 Poppies project via the Exploring Military History Blog.  The displays made for Anzac Day with the knitted poppies are fantastic.

  1. They were doing this in Maffra, so introduced them to it at my Mum's hostel. They have gone gangbusters knitting them. They look stunning in real life.

  2. Turns out my mother is knitting them as well. I don't know how she got onto it, but I will find out.

  3. People looking to contribute may like to see if their local public library has a craft group as many are.

  4. Hi Lenore,
The 5000 Poppies project will continue until Anzac Day next year ... 2015 ... so we are all still making making making. It's so much fun and will be absolutely amazing!!!

  5. Thank you Liz and Lynn, I can see I am going to have to get onto it myself. Funnily enough, I see my local library is going to start a craft group in July, so maybe it will come up there.
